Which one of the following is a work attributed to playwright Bhasa?
Show answer
Answer: C. Madhyama-vyayoga
Bhasa was the earliest known Sanskrit dramatist, many of whose complete plays have been found. He was an ancient Indian playwright considered one of the earliest known dramatists in Sanskrit literature.
He was the author of works such as the Madhyamavyayoga, DutaGhatotkacha, Dutavakya, Balacharita and Charudatta.
Kavyalankara is a work on poetics, Natyashastra is Bharata Muni's treatise on performing arts, and Mahabhashya is Patanjali's commentary on Sanskrit grammar — none of these are attributed to Bhasa.
Hence option (c) Madhyama-vyayoga is the correct answer.
