Correct statements: 1 and 2 only → Option (a).

Statement by statement

Statement 1 – CORRECT: Lions have no particular breeding season, and often synchronize breeding, especially after a pride takeover, raising the cubs communally.

Statement 2 – CORRECT: The bones of the cheetah's voice box form a fixed structure with divided vocal cords that vibrate with both in and out breaths – the same structure as all 'small' cats. While this enables continuous purring, it limits their range of sounds and prevents them from roaring. Cheetahs produce growls, purrs, chirps and an 'explosive yelp'.

Statement 3 – INCORRECT: Leopards are territorial and do mark their territory using faeces, urine and cheek-rubbing on trees. They can also leave scrape markings on the ground, trees or logs.
