Statement by statement
Statement I – INCORRECT: Indian contingent won Gold in both open and women's category at the 45th International Chess Federation (FIDE) Olympiad by defeating Slovenia (not by Gukesh defeating Nepomniachtchi). History was made on the small island of Sentosa in Singapore on December 12, 2024, as D. Gukesh became the world's youngest chess champion ever after defeating Ding Liren of China in the World Chess Championship — but that was a separate event from the Chess Olympiad. Hence Statement I is not correct.
Statement II – CORRECT: Abhimanyu Mishra became the youngest chess grandmaster in history on Jul 4, 2021, who achieved the title at the age of 12 years, 4 months, and 25 days. He earned his title in 2021. The 12-year-old player from New Jersey scored his third GM norm in Budapest, having already crossed the required 2500 Elo rating barrier. Hence Statement II is correct.
